Overview
The Faculty of Humanities at AGH University of Cracow is home to approximately 1,000 students. Recognizing the stress students face, particularly during exam season, I co-created a DIY workshop just before the Christmas holidays to help them destress and relax while crafting cards and gifts.
Project goal
The objective was to organize a creative event for 80 students during the week leading up to Christmas. The event featured a DIY zone, a messy section for painting and gluing, and a food area with finger foods.
My contributions
The project was a team effort, with various participants in the working group. My specific responsibilities included:
- Planning the evening schedule
- Managing the shopping
- Preparing DIY ideas and crafting instructions for participants
- Setting up the event space
- Budget management
Preparations
After securing funding, I researched Instagram and Pinterest for creative inspirations. Using this research, I developed instructional pamphlets for participants.
I also researched the legal requirements for hosting such events at the university and prepared a shopping list for the Dean’s Office. With approximately 550 items purchased, everything was set for the event. Additional funding allowed us to organize a competition for the best DIY creation, with prizes for the winners.
Event evening
The event kicked off at 6 PM with a buffet of finger foods and festive lighting decorating the hall. Participants spent about two hours crafting their items before the jury selected the competition winners.

Summary
The event took place in December 2023 and was a great success, with high participation and positive feedback from students. Due to its success, we plan to host a similar event in 2024.
